Darabshaw B. Dubash established a partnership company in 1929 for various operations including those of stevedores, ship agents, ship handlers, and landing and shipping contractors.

DBC was invited to manage Bhavnagar Port as landing and shipping contractors by the ruler of the State, Sir Prabhashankar Patni. Impressed by DBC’s efficiency and optimal functioning of the Bhavnagar port, in the year 1948, the Jamsaheb of Jamnagar called upon them to manage the Jamnagar Port as well. DBC Gujarat initiated a series of pioneering projects along the entire coast of Gujarat, empowering them to become an indomitable force in shipping and logistics.

Since the early 1930s, DBC has developed a steadfast alliance with major clients, which initially involved handling their salt, cotton, and small machinery vessels. Over the period of three generations, this partnership has grown significantly. Today, DBC has expanded their operations to handle a diverse range of vessels, including bulk carriers, break bulk ships, project vessels, containers, and car carriers.
